Information on the European Educational Network for Epilepsy
Goals and Objectives of the Network of Epilepsy Centres
Besides providing education and onsite training for participants of and in accordance with the
European Certification in Epileptology for Medical Doctors,
this network and the centers will aim:
- To work towards the improvement of epilepsy services in all countries including health care services, hospital outpatient department and inpatient hospital care and support services.
- To ensure a comprehensive care approach across Europe to the care of patients with epilepsy, which is patient orientated, medically appropriate, and cost-effective.
- To liase with EUREPA in providing recommendations for enhancing epilepsy services.
- To liase with lay and professional epilepsy organizations in carrying out public campaigns on epilepsy and identify areas and projects of mutual interest
- To provide information on epilepsy care and health care policies to government and industry officials and advocate for increased financial support for epilepsy programs.
- To carry out inter and intra ongoing evaluation and benchmarking of appropriateness and quality of care and development of standards for facilities and programs in the various accredited centres.
- To exchange information among its members
- To assist in the setting up of databases
- Registers about incidence prevalence or other epidemiological data, with the objective of
generating population-based data rather than data based on one given centre.
- Joining forces in some topics, e.g.: postoperative tissues, families for genetics, etc
- Harmonization of regulations and research constraints across European countries
- Encourage young researchers in epilepsy
- Set up training courses
- Facilitate mentorships
- Networking junior and senior researchers
