Dear members of Eurepa, dear friends,

Shortly before Easter, I would like to inform you about the latest Eurepa news.

A new epilepsy center has become part of the European Educational Network, offering training possibilities in the course of the European Certification of Epileptology for Medical Doctors - the Epilepsy unit at the Centro Hospitalar in Porto, Portugal, directed by Prof. Jose Lopes Lima. Welcome!

The next General Assembly will take place at the European Epilepsy Congress 2008 in Berlin, Germany. You will receive invitations with the agenda in due time before the meeting.

The two Eurepa co-organized onsite courses, the Migrating Course on Epilepsy and the Baltic Sea Summer School on Epilepsy, will be repeated in 2008 after their great success in 2007:

  • The 2nd Baltic Sea Summer School on Epilepsy will be hosted in Tune, Denmark, from August 31- September 4, 2008. Applications are possible now via the online application form. Please check our website www.epilepsy-academy.org.

  • The 2nd Migrating Course on Epilepsy will take place in Trakai, Lithuania, June 1-8, 2008. Deadline for applications has passed and the course is fully booked.

VIREPA - the Virtual Epilepsy Academy:

All four e-moderated distance learning courses "Genetics of Epilepsy", "EEG in the diagnosis and management of epilepsy", "Neuroimaging" and "Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy" will start again in October 2008. An introductory meeting for participants of all courses (not mandatory) will take place during the 8th European Congress on Epileptology in Berlin in September 2008. Deadline for application to all courses is August 1, 2008.

The presentations of the breakfast seminars “Discussion on seizure related automatisms”, held at the International Congress on Epileptology in Singapore and organized by Executive Board member Prof. Maria Paola Canevini, can be found accessible to members on our website www.epilepsy-academy.org, on the VIREPA e-learning platform. If you do not already have a login & password, just register as a guest and we will automatically upgrade you to "user" and "member" status on the platform.

A Pan-European Train-the trainers course in English will take place from October 29 - November2,  2008, in Malta. Chapters with none or very few certified Eurepa trainers have been asked to nominate candidates, who have already been invited. Participation is upon personal invitation only.

Membership dues for 2008 are due, annually of Euro 20 (or Euro 10 for juniors up to 35). Please transfer the fee to our bank account (below) or transmit current credit card data if you have not done so yet.You can find the form on the website under ‘About us_membership’ and in the document center.
