EUREPA e-newsletter 2 / 2007


Dear members of Eurepa, dear interested persons,

I would like to take this opportunity to fill you in on the developments and news since the last e-newsletter, which are quite numerous, and to say thank you for all your positive feedback on our new website and newsletter and your kind offers to contribute to this bulletin.

The handouts of the breakfast seminars on Automatisms at the 27th International Congress on Epileptology in Singapore can be found on the VIREPA e-learning platform. All Eurepa members can have access to this platform. If you are not a registered user yet, just register as a guest and we will change your status to "user".

Regarding the distance education program, three courses have started in September (EEG Basic II, Neuroimaging I, and Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacotherapy I) and the fourth will start on October 17, 2007 (Genetics IV). Applications are still possible for the Genetics IV course - for more information and the application form please click here.

A number of new members were accepted at the 27th ICE meeting in Singapore in July of 2007 – welcome into the Eurepa family!

A hearty welcome to two new European chapter members, namely Bulgaria and Cyprus, who have joined after Finland.

Also, the Department of Pediatric Neurology, University Hospitals, KU Leuven, in Leuven (Louvain), Belgium (Prof. Lieven Lagae), is the newest epilepsy center to become a part of the European Educational Network within the European Curriculum in Epileptology for Medical Doctors. Welcome also! Further accreditations are taking place at this very moment.

Regarding the results of the questionnaire sent out to all members in the fall of 2006, which you can find on the homepage - our Executive Board member Perrine Plouin has summarized the results, also published on the homepage of the website. You are welcome to have a look.

Eurepa has co-organized two new courses in 2007, which have taken place very successfully:
• MCE – the 1st Migrating Course on Epilepsy, May 27 – June 3, Babe, Serbia. There is a comment of a participant and one photo on the homepage, and we are expecting soon to have more for you to see!
• BSSSE – the 1st Baltic Sea Summer School on Epilepsy, August 19 – 23, 2007, Druskininkai, Lithuania. Please find the picture gallery on our homepage.

The 2nd Migrating Course on Epilepsy will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania, from June 1 – 8, 2008. For information and the online application form, please click here.

The announcement for the 2nd Baltic Sea Summer School on Epilepsy is expected to be coming soon.

Also coming up soon: the minutes of the General Assembly held at the 27th ICE in Singapore on July 11, 2007. This will be sent out to all members in the next newsletter. 

Many of you have kindly paid your membership fees for 2007, thank you, or sent credit card data for this purpose. Some of you still need to do this. Please remember to supply/transmit current credit card data to the office or to transfer the membership fee to our bank account. You can find the information and the form on the website under ‘About us_membership’ and in the document center.

Please also make sure that  you update your address (email and postal) and your credit card data so we can reach you (form on website, see above)!
