EUREPA e-newsletter 1 / 2007

Dear members of Eurepa, dear interested persons,

First of all, let me express my sincere hopes and wishes for a good start into the year 2007 for all of you! May it be a prosperous and fulfilling one for you and for Eurepa!

Secondly, I would like to introduce to you this new e-newsletter format replacing the ‘old’ Information-Bulletin, which will now be sent via email to all members several times a year. A second version, without the internal details concerning Eurepa, will also be published on the website, open to everyone. A number of volunteers offered to contribute to e-newsletters by providing articles and pictures about local activities or other topics – please, you are welcome to send in your contributions to the e-bulletin to me anytime! You can also unsubscribe yourselves to the e-newsletter on the website if you so wish.

Eurepa also has a new website design (www.epilepsy-academy.org) with a new web content management system which allows for fast implementation of changes directly and which offers a variety of new features and possibilities, including the posting of announcements and documents, the sending of newsletters, and better up- and downloading options. We tried to make the structure as logical and easy-to-use as possible, but we are open for your comments and improvement suggestions!

You can, for instance, find the results of the questionnaire sent out to members in the fall of 2006 on the new homepage. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who took the time to fill it out and send it back in to the office. An evaluation of the results is presently being done.

A number of new members were accepted at the AES meeting in San Diego in December of 2006 – welcome into the Eurepa family!

Also, the Epilepsy Center at the Azienda Ospedaliera San Paolo in Milan, Italy, is the newest epilepsy center to become a part of the European Educational Network within the European Curriculum in Epileptology for Medical Doctors. Welcome also! Further accreditations are taking place at this very moment.

A number of you will be at the International Congress on Epileptology in Singapore in July – Eurepa will start two new e-learning courses there (“Neuroimaging” and “Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy”) and will be conducting, as usual, the Eurepa Early Morning Seminars (former Breakfast Seminars): The titles this time are (preliminary): “Discussion on seizure related automatisms”, “Discussion of difficult cases in childhood epilepsies” and “Discussion of difficult cases in adult epilepsies”. As you hopefully know, Eurepa members are entitled to discounts for the e-learning courses and the early morning seminars.

Eurepa is co-organizing/offering a variety of courses in 2007, in which you are invited to participate:

MCE – the 1st Migrating Course on Epilepsy, May 27 – June 3, Babe, Serbia (course complete, sorry!)

BSSSE – the 1st Baltic Sea Summer School on Epilepsy, August 19 – 23, 2007, Druskininkai, Lithuania

Distance Education:

EEG, Genetics, Neuroimaging, Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacotherapy.

Please find the announcements and current further information on the Eurepa website www.epilepsy-academy.org

A new year has started, so the membership fees for 2007 are also due. Please remember to supply/transmit current credit card data to the office or to transfer the fee to our bank account. You can find the form on the website under ‘About us_membership’ and in the document center.

Please also make sure that address changes (email and postal) are communicated to the Eurepa office so that we can reach our members (form on website, see above)!
